Focus on school and learning the business side before you let the hobby turn into a job
:iagree:
To that really good advise, I add..
Adult concepts require adult thinking.
Start to tone down your use of “txt-speak”.
While fine amongst friends it has no place in business, unless you plan on selling phones as well.

If u go bare bottom I would paint the bottom of the tanks, color would be more appealing IMO. Also I would look at custom tanks and racks. You can build the tanks up to 8' long and separate using 1/4" glass. May be cheaper in the long run, Plus a little Creativity and Elbow Grease would make for a spectacular store.

We need more LFS's. The one near my house closed down which leaves 2 that I know of in a town of 2.5 million people. (Other than PetSmart and Petco)

Best Luck,

Bear

Am i understanding wht ur saying rite? I can get a 8' log tank and have 1/4" of glass put in to make dividers? So its like a 8' tank on a rack but with dividers in it to make more tanks then one large one?

By the time you're done with school, there will be much "newer and better" ways of doing things.

Yes i agree with u 100% things will be different when i am done with college im a sophmore rite now in high school.

Never too early to start thinking and planning what you want to do. Better to have a passion for something and obtain the education(and experience) that will get you there than to finish a 4-year degree and say "now what". As a sophomore in high school it is the perfect time to apply to local pet stores. Cleaning aquariums and hamster cage crap wont exactly make you an expert on the business, but it will get you in the environment and even at that entry level job there is much you can learn that will provide help and guidance for any future endeavour you hope to have in the business.

I live in Poland to the east of Youngstown, we need a good fish store in this area. I'd love to check out your operation if this dream comes true someday.

Depending on how much air you need a compressoir could be a good way to go. The bigger ones have an output regulator, so you line can be pressurised so say 40 psi (i have know idea how much you need) But the compressor tank will be at 125 psi and licks on if it drops below 80 psi so you would have a very constant pressure where ever you need to set it, plus you can keep in way in the back and not here it all.

Bare bottom is easy to clean, but a slopped gravel bottom colored to enhance the fish helps to sell to people that are beginers

Also working for a store would be great experince and knowlege of how to set up a good store.

Work for a good LFS first. That helps you set up contacts for equipment, and fish. You start up knowing what sells and what doesn't. Keep large stocks of "bread and butter" fish like neons, mollies etc. and have a few wonder tanks, rays, reefs, etc. The maintenance aspect can be very lucrative but is heavily dependent on the area.

Knowing what you want to do career wise will make all those sucky late nights in college a bit more bearable.

Good luck.
