Starting a MF tank

What about a pair of some larger species....such as Jags...Festa or you could maybe try a mix like a male Jag and Red Devil or a similar combo. That might be luck if they get along though. I like pairs myself...less problems in smaller tanks like 125.

5-7 red belly piranha would thrive in a 125....Buy a dozen "dimers" to start a shoal....

or...

Get a breeding pair Midas Devils....Seeing a male with a lare nuchal hump defending a spawn is amazing......

I'd go with a shoal of piranha. Like import racer said. Pick up a dozen little guys and see were it goes from there. They don't get too big and they look cool in a group. Good luck with your decision.

I recommend a fahaka puffer, one could live for life alone in a 125g. They're aggressive and have a diet of snails, shellfish, and crustaceans.

this might be a little late, but i'd go with a senegal bichir, a peacock eel, african knife, and a shoal of Charax gibbosus

i would go with some cool cichlids like parachromis types. but definately none of the ones u mentioned
