Don't put two warmouth together. They will kill each other.

The pickerel-warmouth combo is the best combo if you have to have a Lepomis. I was able to feed both of mine raw shrimp which made feeding time easy.

Having a lepomis isnt a need, but its a nice looking fish that gets to a nice size.

I'm just trying to think of something that gets to a decent size, looks nice and moves around a bit that would be alright with the pickerel.

The tank is going to be planted pretty heavily, I have a lot of elodea from my turtle tank that I was going to put in as it grows fast/easy and provides good cover. Then in the center of the tank I was going to have a decent size of driftwood to provide a cave-like structure.

pickeral that i had were not comfortable in the tank but i didnt have a problem with anything i put in there with them/ they just stay at the top most of the time .so i put floating plants in there for them , i had two in the tank at one time/ one was 8" and the other was 12" far as other fish eatting / the sunnies eat better then the pickeral specially the long eared red belly i had

I dont have any experience with pickrel, but i do have a warmouth and you would be well served to pay close attention to whatever Drewish has to say about Native Fish Keeping.

Might not even do a native tank, and if I do it will be this summer.
I'm taking all the advice here and combining it with other resources.
:D
