HI!! I will probubly be starting to setup a SW tank. i have a 10gallon and i didnt know what to use it for, so i figured i would get my first SW tank! im not a noob at the hobby so i know i have the skill to do this.

my setup will be a logoon style setup w/ alot of green SW plants. LIVE!!!!
ill have inverts like
shrimp
hermitcrabs
and maybe a small starfish!!

please help me with my stocking! post ideas of what you would put in a 10gallon SW tank.

THANKS!! ill keep posting!

For a ten gallon tank you can keep small gobies. About an inch or so. Keep in mind saltwater fish are less hardy than their FW counterparts. Blood shrimp and cleaner shrimp are a joy to watch. G'Luck and let us know how it goes.

Dangit, we lost another one

Congrats, keep us posted. But from what I've heard, like Citrenellis said, smaller tanks are a LOT harder to maintain.

Catalina (Blue Stripe) Gobies are nice. Congrats on crossing over, although I don't think the saltwater guys will see me any time soon ;)

I find this wrong..SW fish are SUPER hardy..... its just about the species of fish you choose.

Alright if you dont mind id like to set you up with a awsome little 10 gallon.

First go get some live sand .... the pic down below is the best.

Get some salt , pictured below is what i use.

i would get a little live rock , you dont really need to much. Anything from 1 pound -10 pounds is fine. I would roll with atleast 5 though.

Light - anything will due.

I dont know if you need instructions but o well ill toss them in.

Okay fill up you tank 3/4 the way. declorinate (duh) and begin to add the right amount of salt. Make sure you have a hydrometer , i have a salanity scope they are very cheap on ebay ... 20$ and 100$ in lfs. ONce you add the right salt , add sand. Its only 10 gallons so dont worry about makeing a sand storm. Add live rock. add a little power head. Dont use your HOB filter till the storm clears , sand ruins filters im sure you know.

Then go to the store and find a quarter sized trigger. Keep in mind he will outgrow the tank soon , but you will enjoy him so much more than anything else in a 10 gallon. You wont be able to wait to upgrade your sw tank and buy him a buddy.

you can buy him little damsel fish and ghost shrimp , and watch him tear them up. They are so cute but so wicked mean. You could even toss a 5 inch snowflake eel in the tank with the trigger. Then toss 2 gold fish and there and watch the party begin!!! but keep in mind thats rare occiasons keep them HAND fed on shrimp , that way you will have the most persionality from them. They will know you and know that you feed them, everytime they see you they will go wild.

This is of course if you can upgrade for the future once they outgrow the tank in say 3 months.... or maybe more.

wow!! THANKS ALOT!! ill take all of that into consideration. i wont be able to upgrade though. =[ =[ so i will go with your ideas about the salt and sand and ill probubly put in a small eel that wont outgrow the tank.

I HATE MY TRIGGER! Nice to watch, but not for me. Anyone want him? He's hanging out in the sump lol.

I also agree with the hardy thing. I was always told that sw fish are EXTREMELY hard to keep alive. I've had great success with all of mine. Except when I put the trigger in a tank with a Tiger watchman goby....

Every eel will outgrow the tank. The only eel that wouldnt would be like a garden eel , which would be really cool if you could find one. A smaller species of scorpion fish would be really cool , they are aggressive , poisenous, and can be hand fed. Predators too
