Let me start out by saying that i know nothing about eels, but after looking at alot of diffrent fish species for my 140 gal (160 x 55 x 60 cm) with eels. I dont know what species of eel, thats what im hoping you guys cant help me with.
I have a fx5 running the tank. It has to be able to live with my little group of 3 Synodontis Eupterus there are about 10 - 13 cm.

You can start off with peacock eels. They stay smallish and are pretty hardy and readily available.

And grow to 2,5-3 feet. Think about a 3 foot eel in a 2' wide tank, please.

Borneo python eel, peacock eel, reticulated spiny eel, fire eel, american eel, dojo loaches (they LOOK like eels), etc. and spiny eels such as the fire eel are not even real eels.
