Starting a Worm Farm

What kind of tractor do you use to harvest them?

5 Finger tractor and im going to store them in a fish belly silo.

I feed oat meal and bread crumbs. Use bakery bread, regular sandwich bread has a lot of preservatives , some worms won't even eat it (I had some bread that didn't get moldy after 4 weeks).

I used a refrigerator laid on it's back for a box and vented the door (top). Critters couldn't get in it :D.

I also tilled the soil mix once a month and added more mix when necessary.

I had a problem with mold / mildew here (that's Fla for you), rather hard to balance it out.

And used a spray bottle with de-chlor'd water to moisten things.

But after seeing all your posts about this you made, I don't think you'll have the patience to raise worms .

Make a compost pile and put tons of earthworms in it and they will multiply

I did that once. Got a 28 gal. rubbermaid container, drilled holes in the bottom, put a layer of screen in there, filled with compost, and added 500 redworms. Fed them poultry mash that's made for young chicks. Cost $6.00 for 25lbs. It was fine. Problem was, I had so many fish, that I was using them faster than they could reproduce and grow out. When I ran out, I gave up, and never did get any more. :D
