This thread is a discussion about starting all over. Whether it be moving, moving out, dorm, deployment, hardship, what have you...Have you started all over? Lets have some fun with this...Everyone has something to add to this thread...I want to hear it :)

I have started over, SOOO many times. I am having a good go at it this time. Im going on 4 years in the same house. My dad was in the navy, and that caused me to give it all up, then my parents split. After the split, my mom was always moving us around, and that caused me to give it all up. Once I graduated, I worked, and went to college, full time, so I had to give it all up then, for a while also. I think I will be here, (in my current house) for a while to come.

Also, when I do start over, I get all fry/juvies....Does anyone else buy adults only? I usually like to grow out at least one fish at all times.

I moved my 75g tank from my room to my living room. I emptied 95% of it and placed the fish in a 30g rubbermaid. I thought I would have to cycle all over again and did that for 2 days (had tough fish, so I don't cycle as long). Before I could get my fish in there, most of them were dead. Don't know why, bu they were dead. Just my Clarias and Jag were left. After about 3 days, the Jag killed the Clarias. So I gave the Jag away and started all over. I think I got some Pbass, CK, Adonis Pleco, and a Silver Aro. I always buy babies/juvies. The big ones are expensive and since most of their lives have been spent on getting that size, they don't last as long.
But eventually, I like to start with new fish from time to time.

i guess I'm starting all over tomorrow. Tomorrow will be the last day of my undergraduate life at UCLA. I'll be doing an all nighter tonight finishing two papers. Two years down the drain. Not much will change though except that I will be working full time in the same place that I was working in in those two years, probably a raise and a promotion as well. (Pat myself on the back)

I am going to be dad for the first time and need to get rid of some fish cuz its taking too much time, plus we might need to move to an apt. to save $ while my wife stays home to care for the baby. I am struggling my hardest to not have to start all over, but I might have to stop it all for now. If so there will be a huge sale thread posted in a few months. I havnt been here for a while cuz I been working over time for more money so I can keep my fish.

Ummm let me know if you sell anything! :naughty:

If I lost everything and started all over my heart would be broken and it would be awhile before I started up again, thats for sure....

started when i was 5? when my dad bought a tank for me.. didnt remember so much so wont get into details.. they died becuase my dad was a tard putting 50 differnet kinds of fish in a 29 gal.. and not changing the water regularly

started again when i imported 6 cambodian bettas from cambodia.. this was back in 01... they died cuz im a tard and didn't take care of them like i should have.. i was also only 12.. lol they all died within 6 months

started again in 03-04 with my neighbors goldfish and the empty 29 from when i was 5... no leaks and it was dry for 7-8 years.. started with goldfish for the first couple years, then got some different kinds of fish.. got up to a point when i had 14 tanks (not all running) ... now down to 8 tanks currently running.. still have a few of the goldfish that resparked it all for me.. dont plan on getting out anytime soon.

Awesome guys...I'll read every word...This thread could help many people. :)

i had to give it all up twice
the first time i gave it all up was after my prized oscar collection was reduced to nothing due to a very long power outtage
then i started again at that time i was in 8th std and then we moved in transit the tank broke and then i dumped all the fish in the water tank and my dad got pissed and again i lost all fish(had to give them all away
and after a break for nearly 7 years i have started again

i have always bought juvies never bought adult untill now
but those are always rescues

I started over a couple of times.

I had various tanks on and off growing up. They ranged from community tanks, to fancy goldfish to Oscars. I gave it all up while in college. After college I bought a 55g and had JDs in it. I gave them away when we moved. I set up the 55g as a community and let my gf (now wife) stock it. I bought a 125g and had it in the basement cycling. The basement flooded and I had to drain it. It sat and I moved and gave it to my Dad after a couple of years. After the move we had the 55g for a year, but tore it down when we had some repairs made. I haven't had an aquarium running since 2001. We've moved again and this place has a small pond. I was content w/ that until I found this site and now I'm starting over again. I've collected a 75, 125g and a 44g corner. In addition, I've been collecting new hardware. I've had to totally start over as all my old equipment was cheap and didn't work.

My first tank was a 20g with a pirana that someone gave me cause they were starting over, that fish ate all his other 9 piranas in his tank. Then he died, and i had to start over cause by that point i was hooked...lol. Then i got myself a baby oscar, that was in 2001. I had him in a 33g and he got huge, then i had to move to an appartment an wasn't allowed to have him there so i gave him to my aunt, and then she had to move out of province and she gave him to her friend, and then she didn't want him either so she gave him to the local fish store, and they still have him....i have recently started over again myself.
