Get a mantis shrimp! Banana slugs are kinda cool too. Here's some other cool stuff; velvet ant, flower mantis, leaf insect, water bugs, stag beetle, atlas beetle, yeah.

Yea, definitely mantis...you can throw one in a mini 5 gallon salt tank no problem...

One of the smaller species, maybe. They're hard to find though.

Yea. But even if he does a larger one, a 5 or 10 will be fine for awhile....they are very slow growers.

i had some banana slugs once, they are escape artists
 
I have a 6 inch peacock mantis in a 14g biocube. My fav scorps are the fat tails like the bicolor fat tail and the australus.
 
stick with the centipedes....i have 4 and i love them..or go with a pink salmon baboon, or king baboon instar and raise it...or if u want a spider spider get a huntsman cool, fast, inexpensive, and are wicked creepy looking.
 
I'd almost forgotten. I have an 8 inch hammerhead planarian.
That thing is a beast. It's doubled in size in a month, and eats 2 worms its own size every day.
supposedly they get 16'', but to my knowledge no one really keeps them in captivity, so i'm seeing how big i can get mine with power feeding. :D
