Starting my fish store-- stock ideas?

Maybe go to the fish stores in your area and ask what is selling like crazy. then do fish like them but not that fish. Stuff people will like just like the ones lfs are selling

The only pet stores in my area are Petco, and Petsmart-- and Walmart. heh.

If people are willing to drive, it's The Pet Place, and I go every weekend, and they have the same fish from the weekend before.. and I am talking the same exact fish, not just another of it's kind.

They have tons of awesome fish in their back room that I never see out front, and there are also awesome fish that don't have labels on the tanks, and sometimes if it doesn't have a label they won't sell it for you for (insert reason).

There's also Zootopia around here in Hbg- I will have to check them out again. I've heard good/bad from them, and I've only been there once. I did like that they had a cat that walked around.

As they said, definitely cichlids. They're super popular and cool and affordable. Plus, in the right conditions, they breed like MAD. My convicts and firemouths have had propbably about 1000 babies (not exaggerating) over 2 years and I wasn't even trying to breed them.
