Finally got the filter, tank lid, lights, heaters and heater controller all set up. As well as the sand and water put in.

I...would put fish in and use Tetra SafeStart+ or Seachem Stability and jumpstart your cycle...I've done 3 tanks that way and they were all running fully cycled in under 1.5 weeks. Or just dump some fish food in and wait. I'd say for a 150 gal you might as well dump quite a bit of that betta food in.
^^ What he said. That's how I cycled my tank as well. Or you could find pure, unscented ammonia in most grocery stores.
Okay. Did you all just add the fish that you wanted along with the safe start or did you go for hardy fish used usually in a cycle? I'm gonna give it another day at least for the sand to all settle, it's still pretty cloudy.

I tried both of those earlier today. The ones around me only carried either lemon or lavender scented ammonia.

Try Ace hardware if you have one nearby, that is the only place I could find clear, unscented ammonia.
The only Ace near me is extremely small and didn't have it. I ended up just ordering Dr. Tim's ammonium chloride from Amazon. Thanks for the suggestions.

A 5.5 gallon betta tank. I don't think there will be any benefit to adding gravel or filter media from such a small tank.
