Starting up my very first marine tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Our Petco doesn't do the dollar per gallon as it doesn't sell fish stuff. I'll see if I can't get him down to 200. The combined total for the light and tank I'm looking at is 204. So... I think It's reasonable. 225 would be the highest I'll go. He didn't want to sell the tank without the stand... so I don't know if he will. I"ll loose the Metal Halide but keep my price... is it worth it?

My 2 cents - 250 for that 40 gal. set up - no way. I've bought whole set ups of tanks 6x larger for the same price on craigslist. Recently I've seen locally 350 gal. set up for $400, 125 gal w/ LR $250, 125 gal $100 these are whole set ups HO lighting, sumps, skimmers, whole kit and kabooldes. Hold out for a better deal.

Fish game is all about patience. If you have a truck or something you can probably find a craigslister and go pick it up elsewhere in texas.

Just make sure that when you get their, the tank is filled and running. Nothing worse than finding out you have a leaky tank.

Ask him to send a picture of it filled, and if you come and it is still filled and you cant see any signs of leaking you might be in the clear.

Don't have a truck. I decided not to get that one even though I have 240 dollars. I think I'll buy my own and start that way. Or if... by friday or something there's another one posted yay... if not I'll get my own.

Its always nice to know the history of your tank so you dont have to be worried about a leak or anything.

You dont know anyone that could help you move a craigslister though?

I found a good deal on some base rock and sand. I can then get some "Live" stuff and seed it. 40 lbs of rock and 40 lbs of sand. Want some feed back. The club has used it before and they all like it.

What I like about it:
1. It's Reef safe and not harvested form living reefs
2. It's pourous allowing for later easier placement of corals
3.FREE SHIPPING!!!

Marco is a good guy to do business with.

His sand is nice and relatively clean compared to most other stuff available, but its sugar fine, and is prone to blowing around your tank and clouding stuff up. I have it in my 75, Ive adjusted to it, but something worth mentioning.
