I run them on 10 tanks and haven't had a problem in two years.

How old were they?

Mine from 4yrs ago are fine..

the newer ones from the last 2yrs have all failed...

I have 4 from 75w-200w that are defective...

Marineland doesn't care... I called them to complain about it.. first thing out of their mouth was do you have a receipt?
I think they need to redo their advertising to read from lasting a long time to working for 6-8months then being able to make fish chowda once it chits the bed.
Should have specified 3 months to 13 months old :grinno: I wont even use the replacements they sent me unless its a life or death situation.

running all stealths on my 4 current setups...

i was runnin stealths on all my 14 a couple years ago with no problems whatsoever... my single ebo jag secondary crapped out thou...

Everyone is telling me to go with Rena heaters and that they are the best......I was looking them up and a 300w is about 30 dollars and the rest are below that. That is not too bad of a price for a heater... I put a digital temp. that tells the precise temp of the tank. But I dont think they make anything that turns off the power if the temp goes too high....but I will have to look it up.

In my opinion there is no excuse for stray voltage problems or having overheated fish as these problems are 100% preventable!

are the problems only with the older/reg stealth? or do the stealth pro's have problems also?

Rena heaters are FTW ime, everything els has either zaped me or cook my fish.

just go get yourself one of those cheap tetra ones from walmart i've never had problems with them and they keep the temp at 79.5

I can certainly understand the agitation with faulty heaters. I have a list of heaters that I wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole. Interestingly, the Stealth heaters are not among them. I have used several of the original Stealth design (200-250 watt) for years with no problems. A couple of months ago, I purchased four of the 300 watt Stealth Pros for my 350 and they have performed without incident. Personally, I like the design of the Pro, They are epoxy-filled and appear to be very solid.
