We got a meter to make sure the place was properly grounded (it says it is), but I'm gonna have to use an actual volt meter to see what's happening. What definitely clues me that something is wrong is that the light bulb over the staircase flickers on and off even when the switch is in the 'off' position. Either the place is wired to burn itself down or the witch that died here doesn't want us here. ;) j/k But, yeah. I haven't had any luck with finding out what is at the root of the problems. Time for an electrician.

Now that's scary! :nilly::nilly::nilly:

It's always good to have a heater guard, but that's a totally different issue! :nilly: We're discussing heater failure! :D

i thought we were discussing how scary Wet Whiskers post was...:screwy:

I'm not as big of a fan of stealths as I used to be. I have had quite a few fail. I probably won't buy another one.

Threads like this freak me out....I have two stealth 250 watt heaters in my 180 gallon, both fully submerged. I would be SUPER pissed if either one of them cooked my fish. I was under the impression that they are the most reliable heaters on the market.

as far as the most reliable, 6 out of 12 will say stealths the other 6 will say Ebo's.

Ebo's have been around forever.

Stealths are the new kid on the block.

the main attraction with the stealths is that you don't need a heater guard to prevent breakage, because they are not glass. however, a downside is that they do not have an indicator light that indicates that the heater is in the 'on' mode..

Ohhh I see the problem. Your house is haunted, goodluck with that.

:WHOA::grinno:

rena smart heater anyone?

when heating the light is on. If the water has varied too much from the set heat then the light will flicker quickly, indicating that it is 3 degrees above the set temp, or slowly, indicating that it is 3 degrees less that the set temperature. They are also made out of the same stuff as the stealth heaters.

lol didnt mean to try and sell the product :P
