Stealth heaters...I regret it now.

One of my stealths crapped out and its only been 2 months. I have 1 in the tank 1 in the sump and it figures it'll be the one in sump thats dead. Saw the plastic casing and its warped/melted. My mistake was not unplugging it when I was adjusting my pumps and had to drain the sump.

But according to the specs its supposed to turn off automatically when no water is present. So far the one is keeping my 125g at 79F, good thing I ordered a WON bros 500w heater w/controller, should be here next week.

have had my 5 stealth heater for the last 2 yrs..............no prob and constant 80 deg............no complaints!!!

Can you really blame the heater though? sounds like operator error.

I've had 3 out of 5 fail in under a years time, two stuck off and one stuck on.

That shutting off when not under water feature seems hit or miss, alteast they don't explode like glass heaters though.

They have a life time warranty, make a claim and keep it on hand if the won bro's heater dies.

True...but based on the specs is why I purchased it, besides being black and matched my tank background... that it has a protection circuit.

Besides, "what if" scenario, a tank leaks or sump is dry..shouldn't the heater have turned off to protect itself as claimed?

None of mine have given me problems. My Ebo Jager is set on 77 and the tank is 82.............. I'm switching it for a stealth lol.

I have had a litle trouble with stealths as well.

One shocked the crap out of me but that is not the only brand or the last that will make my hair rise.

I prefer Finnex, Jaeger and won bros. No shocks or short lives from any of these brands.
