i have two 250 watt stealths on my 225, and temp does not want to rise any higher than 79.

could a heater be bad or are the two just insufficient to the tank size.?

keep in mind i bought these two heaters brand new.

i know that both are on because of the bubbles around the heaters.

What is the temp of the room that tank is in?

Sounds like it should be OK to me. I would check to see if both are working.

I completely agree 500 W is sufficient for 225 gal tank when your air temps are 68*+

Stealth heaters commonly get bubbles on them when they are brand new, but after just a short time that stops. So I suspect you have just set these up... how extensively have you toyed with them? Did you turn them all the way up and leave them for a couple days?

as soon as i got them i set them both at 84-85, and placed them in the tank. and plugged them in. saw the bubble and the precipitation on the lids and assumed they are both ok. but they just cant seem to get over 79.

If you read the package they suggest you place them in the tank, wait some time, then plug them in...

This is so the internal thermostat can regulate itself. I suggest you do this before drawing any other conclusions...
