Not trying to hijack this thread, but I got one big beautiful male a few weeks ago and it does nothing but hide. In another tank I have four small S. Casuarius. I'm thinking about adding two of them with the S. tinanti.
Can anyone tell me if the two different species can live together peacefully?

Well i have no clue if they can mix..this is my first experience with these type of fish ..but im guessing he is hiding because he is alone.
hopefully someone can chime in and help you out.
