you can still have a life, just know that in your new life you are a slave to your aro. :)

guys back on track. can you guys recommend tubing in non american terms unless its global aka i can go to a shop here in austrlia and order it by what you guys call it.

btw im trying to spend as little as possible on the stand. so can we go over what braces need/ dont need to be there?

keep it in mind id like it to stay the style stand i had it originally if possible as there will be a tall sump unde there and ill want access!

I use the AISC manual for steel construction, thats American Institute of Steel Construction... i dont know what the international standard is. the steel i posted is HSS, hollow structural section. the size i posted id the smallest available, once you go below that size you are using steel tube, that falls outside of my realm of experience because its not structural.

theres two ways to go as far as $$$, use steel with a smaller section and use more of it, or use a larger section and less material. you have to find out whats available to you and at what cost and make that decision. keep in mind that the thinner the material is the more difficult it is to weld

you hve two good looking stands posted already, your sump should still work with the one i posted, if you notice there is no bracing on the ends.
and the stand is pretty open in samsons design as well

There are three wall thicknesses for tubing, I used 1" heavy wall. It cost me $80 US for the whole stand. I used 5/16" plate for the gussets. I used a MIG welder w/25/75 gas to do all of the welding. Make sure you chamfer you edges before welding if you are going to grind your welds smooth. I'm not sure if this is common, but I used 5/8" plywood on top of the stand then a piece of 1/4" insulation then the tank.

k thanks every body. my bro in laws gonna weld it btw where do u get steel tubing/hss

You will have to find a local supplier. I know around here that most places make you buy full sticks but a few places will cut them to length for you and the scraps from other cuts are pretty cheap
