Pegboard is good, I've done 'em with the back pegboard and both ends pegboard...ends is probably better.
I know everybody's mentioned the plexi, my sav used to just push it right out, climb out, and crap. That's the only time he really wanted out, so he wouldn't have to crap in his cage. What a mess...he crapped like a damn rottweiler
Anyway, I like doing sliding plexi doors, what I did to strengthen them is tack some 2x2 wood pieces around the edges, did the trick just fine.
Re: heat, I've been wanting to try the heat panels, I think they're by pro products? Since I do mainly lizards I tend to go with lights rather than pads anyway.
Something to think about, if anyone builds...I built one for a Dumeril's monitor. He liked a lot of humidity so I wet down his bedding in part of the cage - and it leaked. Next time I might do linoleum on the bottom and some good caulking around the bottom edges (I used plywood).
