No they're not dude, do some research, sterlets and especially shovelnose sturgeon do well in mid 70's to about 80 degree water. Most other sturgeon need somewhat cooler water but even most of them live in warm water over parts of their range.

Well put! Ive been trying to keep mine close to 70, but the temps have strayed into the 72-74 range a few times. It really hasn't seemed to effect him though.

But there from cold climates?

Mine is kept outdoors without heaters. The temperature in the pond reflects that of it's natural environment

Awesome! Awesome! fish!!!

You are correct...they do BEST in COOLER climates, but will do fine in well aerated slightly warmer climates. Mine is 3" long kept at 70-74 degrees in a tank that is over filtered with a large air stone. I am also doing a 25% water change every evening. At this size i would imagine he would be dead or at least not feeding if these conditions were no acceptable.

Again...i love your fish! How big is it?

I keep mine in a pond but temperatures still get higher than 75 it doesnt kill them unless they are exposed to temperatures over 80 fo prolonged periods of time. I wouldnt know where in the US sell sterlet sticks but im sure you could get them online.
