I love this book! I think ive read it like 3 times over the last few years. Such a great man!

i can relate i finished reading it a couple days ago and i feel the urge to read it again!!!!

I met him at Australia zoo, saw him riding around on a dirtbike with his son and he stopped to have a chat, he was a true blue Aussie who loved this country, wildlife and ofcourse, his family. A down to earth easy goin bloke who was always happy to stop whatever he was doing and have a chat with people.

I grew up watching him...

Dora the explorer? No. Backyardigans? No. Blues Clues? No.
I even ditched Sesame Street to watch Steve. Used to watch him all day.
I was quite foolish though  Tried to pick up a snake that was bigger than me when I was about 8. It took a snap at me and I stuck to the couch after that
Was so sad to hear of his death, and even to this day it pains me knowing what a great guy he was. I really wanted to go see him at his zoo as well...

that must be an amazing experience great guy he was the same on camera as he was off.

i was a fan, he was great

it was really heart wrenching when they aired his memorial or whatever it was at the time.

i wonder how true this is, we had a guy from Australia come in for training and i asked him about steve irwin, this was before his death, and the guy said he's more popular everywhere else in the world. but he's not that big a deal for Australians and in Australia

Hey Sumoninja, Steve was well known and loved by many here, pretty much every aussie knows of him and what he did but the show didnt do well over here and i guess thats becouse is show about Australian animals, crocs, snakes, spiders etc and to us its nothing new. When he passed away his memorial was on tv for days and following that there were interviews with his father and steves wife, it seemed the country was in morning for the loss of a hero, a rolemodel and in general a great Aussie bloke.

Steve always new that doing what he loved was dangerous and that a simple mistake could be fatal and thats what happend, sad but he died doing what he loved and left a hell of a mark on life when he left, aswell as two kids and a wife that continue his work, good on em.
