My wife and I are sadend by the news. Our prayers to the family and friends.

Someone about three pages back asked what type of ray....it was a bull ray.

funny, but when you guys say your thoughts and feelings go out to his family, you actually mean his viewers.. Because Steve made sure we all felt like his family. Thats why I loved his show so much.

I would always humble the idea that steve was a second dad to me. Every time I watched his show, it was like I was hanging out with my dad.

very sad day, Steve's constant interference with the animals often irked me, but the greater good he did by hugely increasing our awareness far outweighed that... ..... it does bring home the point on why stingrays are very feared animals.

this news channel i caught a glimpse of said he was killed by a harmless animal

A rare man indeed. Although he was overboard at times, his passion for animals and life will be missed. Rest in peace

its a very sad day, he brought the plight of many engandgered animals for the public through his enthusiasm for all creatures great and small.

Me and my buddies used to sit back and make cracks about what a goof Steve was.But that was part of his appeal.We'll probably never see another guy with such a genuine love of animals. He especially loved the more dangerous ones like most of us.I always wanted one of the croc pits like he had at his zoo.Truly a great guy.
