Steve Irwin aka Crocodile Hunter Killed

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They just had a tribute to Steve on TV.

Fisheries are actually concerned that fishermen will now kill all rays they catch...

And children in Australia are encouraged to come out and express their feelings as he was seen as a hero by many.

A local network had a clip of an interview with the show's producer. He stated that there was footage of the incident...He said it shows Steve pulling the barb out of his chest right before he lost consciousness...
Now that is one strong man, after being pierced in the heart to have the will to pull it out during the last few seconds of life...
You da Man Steve, we all love what you stood for.
I'm sure that Bull Ray didn't mean it personally either, just doing what animals do naturally, out of instinct.
Our hearts and prayers go out to your wife and kids, You'll never be forgotten, but surley missed...RIP from camp ZennzzO

ELEANOR HALL: To the larger than life Australian whose death is capturing headlines all around the world.

Steve Irwin made his reputation by pushing the boundaries and living on the edge of danger. Yesterday 30 kilometres off the coast of Port Douglas he got just that little bit too close.

In Cairns, the investigation into the crocodile hunter's death is still underway but police are adamant he did nothing to provoke the stingray that speared his heart. And they say they have the videotape evidence to back them up.

Steve Irwin's manager and friend John Stainton saying he's seen the footage and it's shocking. But he says it proves Steve Irwin wasn't intimidating the stingray before it lashed out.

In Cairns Lisa Millar reports. said:
LISA MILLAR: Looking pale and upset, Steve Irwin's long-time friend and manager John Stainton joined the police media conference this morning in Cairns.

He'd been on the boat with Mr Irwin yesterday and they'd shared an early morning cup of tea, his friend telling him he'd never been happier. Now Mr Stainton has had to watch the confronting footage of his friend's death.

JOHN STAINTON: I did see the footage, and it's shocking. It's a very hard thing to watch, because you are actually witnessing somebody die, and it's terrible.

REPORTER: What does it show, John?

JOHN STAINTON: It shows that the, Steve came over the top of the ray, and then the tail came up and spiked him here, and he pulled it out, and the next minute he's gone. And that was it, and then the cameraman had to shut down.

REPORTER: How close would he have been to the ray at the time?

JOHN STAINTON: Umm, probably, a metre maybe? Coming over the top of it.

bad and sad news , good animal hunter.

I just heard that Animal Planet will have a tribute and play Crocodile Hunter episodes all day. Australia is also thinking of giving him a state funeral (usually resevered for state officials and government people).

Steve pulled it out by instinct as well. The sad thing is, he may likely have had a better chance of survival if he left it in until medics could deal with it, the barbs do more damage on exit. I quess we may never know. (I am not sure I want to)

I think the venom going directly to his heart was all it took. The damage was done and pulling it out i can't imagine effected his chances.

You're probably correct...Don't know what he was thinking really, but maybe like a croc bite, opening the jaws, to get free, he pulled out the barb...

It probably will never hit the air on primetime, maybe somewhere underground will have a clip of the incident...I'd like to see the size of BullRay and how fast they are from a meter away...
