Steve Irwin

Didn't really understand what I saw at first. I was only 7 when it happend. But I read up on it a little more and apparentley the Camera man scared the ray towards steve, in which steve was just above it. Rays have a very sensitive electrical field sense and could feel the beating of steves heart, that's probably how the stinger went right there. Probably a defense against predators like sharks.

I was six when it happened but what the eye witness said in the video is probably the closest thing to a first person point of view from steve.

I'll look around tonight and see if I can find anymore interviews of eyewitnesses or primary sources.

There were others in the water. The story by Dr. Seymour was from his perspective while being on the boat (not in the water when it happened). It was caught on film. That footage was destroyed. Only fakes are floating around.

His words about Steve off camera vs Steve on camera are 100% accurate. He had such an incredible driving passion for saving wildlife. You couldn't help but have it rub off on you when you were around him. Even if you think you are the most passionate person for animals, you felt like a rookie and re-inspired when he started talking with you.
Dr. Seymour's words about how people who work in close contact with deadly animals typically feel are spot on as well. We don't like bragging about times we have been bitten or stung. We see those times as mistakes. We need to learn from them.

Every time I have my daughter around crocs, she asks about Steve. She was born 5 years after his passing. That is the type of legacy Steve has left us.
