Hi!!

So my channa Stewartiis are now officially paired up. They stick to the left corner of the tank all the time.

One of them (male or female dunno) never leaves the spot on the surface, like it's guarding eggs or something.

The thing is, I can't see any eggs at all? I'm affraid I might have removed the eggs by mistake, when I removed some of the surface vegetation....

Do stewartii guard the place before they lay eggs? or do you think I have accidentially removed the eggs?

Lets say I have removed their eggs, will it take a year before they lay eggs again then??

Hope you can help me out :D

Stewertii are mouth brooders , the male holds the eggs . They'll release fry into a "nest" which is typically a small clearing in the floating cover that the male guards to let then have easy access to the surface for breathing.Males will also gather fry back up into his mouth pouch if he feels threatened.

If you accidentally removed fry with floating cover they may not breed again this year but chances are that didn't happen . The parents usually would have attacked violently if you had scooped up fry .

ah!! that clarifis things :D

I think the one who don't eat that much at the moment, might be holding eggs then..

Thanks for the reply.

By the way, are stewartii known for being easy to breed, or have I been lucky ?
