Still carpintis?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Really-I say that cause the only Texas I get are Escondido and I have never seen a Juvenile Carpintis with that much coloring and flourescent green.

I could be wrong but if you look at the large truquoise blotches covering the fishes body it distinguishes it as an Escondido-most Texas cichlids don't have that strong turquoise feature as the one in that pic-so either I'm right or it is a really rare and pretty Carpintis-my brother has Carpintis AKA Green Texas Cichlid and doesn't have close to the strong Turquoise Coloring of the one on page 1.

Here's my H. carpinits "Escondido" female at around the same size. Terrible photo. Note the color and the facial markings.

And a better but larger shot.

i say those are regular Carpintis, not the Esconido variant as the escondio have the squiggly wormy markings on the face.

nice fish BTW, they look just like mine :)

I would agree with MM. Carpintis yes, Carpintis sp Escondido no.

Modest Man-for some reason I didn't get your pics-can anyone else show pics comparing the two. Cause to be honest I have seen many Carpintis and never seen one as brilliant on the one in the first page.
