Still cycling tank..

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thanks..so if i buy biospear and it doesn't clear in a week, that means that i didn't rinse the cartridges enough at the beginning right?

and do powerheads have the ability to circulate oxygen in the tank too? I've seen ones at the top of the tank that's all bubbling..

Most powerheads have an ariating feature (small hose to make bubbles.) but most of the O2 comes from serface agitation. Biospira can help cycle the tank but you have to leave the filter pads alone until it's established...thats one of the main problems with internal filters.

so after 6weeks i can start rinsing the filter cartridge..

hey do I have to go through the whole cycle process everytime I chnge filter cartridges? or are there enough bacteria in the crystal clear tank to make it go by faster?

First off, a filter has many different types of media to do different jobs. The good bacteria (from a tank cycling and the bacteria growing, or the biospira being introduced) lives and grows on the bio media. This is usually ceramic rings or plastic balls, something other than the filter pads.
Let's try this....
Is this your filter?
