The last time i emailed Cairns about a Crossbacked Ray (round ray family) they said they would get back soon but never did so I will see if they do this time. I emailed some guy in Japan about it but havent heard back either.

I would have to Double check with Matt but I would guess just like a shark that is delicate. In a large tub in box truck where you could manipulate the water parameters and supplement with o2. I am sure it could be air shipped too I put in a big box.
I bet this thing is expensive so you would want to be careful.

Yeah, the ones I had were air freight shipped in HUGE pools with lids screwed down and airpumps attached. Was tempting to have a stop in Hawaii and LA (like we did with the sawfish) to do a waterchange. They made it all the way without the stops though.

i thought i saw one of these beauties at San Francisco's Institute of Science in golden gate park ^^;; beautiful ray indeed.

Cool fish, it would be neat to see someone house one long term.

i saw one behind the scenes at the boston aquarium last saturday, i was very surprised to see one given their rarity

Boston seems to be a pretty classy organization. I would love to work with, or for them some day.

Funny you mentioned this because our lab took a behind the scenes tour of underwater adventures...I however didnt go. Deer hunting. :D

they are actually in the process of building the largest shark/ray touch tank on the east coast, so far it looks amazing :)
