I am about to pick two of these up tomorrow from my LFS they run for twenty dollars

Post pics when you get them, I would possibly be interested in having you ship some to me if they look good enough.

Those are pretty sweet, I always thought they where dyed.

They are not dyed. It's easy to tell when a fish is dyed (ie: blueberry oscar) These fish are line bred which is not hard to do if you have the space and time. Basically they just found albino oscars that were naturally red, and kept breeding the ones that were the most red. As with many line bred fish, I would expect these to have relatively poor genes because there was probably inbreeding at some point in time. I am sure in Asia they are getting food with hormones as well, which is why when people get them here they do lose some of their intensity.

^ I think I agree with this. If it's true that the fish lose color intensity as they grow, my guess is they've been heavily color-fed or hormoned like so many discus are. A lot of hormones do pretty nasty damage to fish internally and most don't live very long. If they're color-fed, you'll have to continue doing so in order to maintain the intensity of the red. Most people don't have access to the types of color feed additives that are used in fish like this.
