I was talking to a guy at my LFS who usually is very credible. and he said that this was a very bad idea because the sting rays are usually very territorial and end up killing arowanas. That the store has done it like three times and each time it has resulted in the death of the arowana. I just dont think it makes much sense because of the different areas of the tank they inhabit

to be perfectly and brutally honest...

WHAT A LOAD OF BULL MANURE

yeah you usually want the aro bigger than the ray's mouth!

do stingrays have a pretty big mouth?
no literally as big as it looks *means small*

in my experience.
my aro has never shown any aggression toward the rays
or visversa ;)
it all depends on the fish

More often it is the aro that shows aggression toward the ray.

If the aro can fit in the rays mouth, it can easily be eaten.

Jardinis are notorious for ray damage. Silvers can do the same, especially the large ones. Rays are relatively passive to fish that they cannot eat and they cannot defend themselves as well as other fish.

If I am not mistaken, people seem to have the best luck with black aros and rays.
