sting ray in 58g tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah, I have a 55 gallon and looked into that myself. It's not a good idea at all. The ray needs a lot more space as well as a wide and long tank. I wouldn't recommend it.

recommend is out of the question, its a solid answer, no. a pup at about 5" maybe as quarantine like Gshock has said, but no more then 2 weeks to a month tops.

i know they can get up to 20+ but thats y i asked if i could put a pup in there for a couple months without a problem then i would transfer it to my buddys 500 gal. so just because i asked the question doesnt mean thats where the ray would be staying.

Usually a couple months is a year or so but if you do... I suggest 40-50% daily water changes as they will kick up your params big time (assuming you already know this).

Personally I wouldnt keep a ray in a tank smaller than 70gls for more than a month

You didn't say it would be for just a couple of months. And I think the answer is still......no. What if your buddy decides he doesn't want a ray anymore or doesn't have any more room, or his tank mates wont work for the ray? I say NO all together. It's just a bad idea.

HA NO! stingrays need way bigger space/area to roam around maybe in my opinion 200 gallons for a pup? not to sure on that though but i do know 58Gallons isnt at all good for the pup

:iagree:

I always think the same way when people say they can give it to someone else or upgrade, or even put it in "their pond". If you can't house it for life, then simply don't own it.
