**UPDATE** After everyone's great advice, I have taken the next steps:
My filtration has been improved, and flow had been increased to 1,000 gph till my new pump arrives. My biological media has been drastically upgraded to biohome ultra media, filling the entire first chamber of my sump. 20% water changes every three days will begin tomorrow night. My plants have been removed and am currently looking into hardier and more durable plants to add some color. Socks will be changed weekly. Filter padding in the chambers will be changed weekly.
Am I missing anything?
