Stingray and Oscar??

any fish you put with a ray is a gamble

but their is no way i would risk an oscar

I would put my oscar with a ray over my petenia. My petenia is a little ratdick. He chases the catfish, bites them (i am afriad he will accidentally swallow them) with his big snook mouth. My oscar just chills and sometomes lacksidaisily chases my big gold severum around.

My oscar is not normal though, he is one of the slowest eaters in my tank, right next to my severum. My snook on the other hand hits pellets back to me. I wouldn't even be able to feed the ray with the snook in the tank.

A 150 gallon pond is probably a good size depending on dimensions (30" x 60" x 20") for just a retic. I would get a 300 gallon stock tank if you want something cheap and durable for an indoor pond. I think they are about 6 feet long and close to 60 inches wide.

Don't risk it with a new oscar though, I was thinking of doing angelfish with mine and now I am pretty much second guessing that. Just do the retic, it will be easier to take care of water that way.

Don't do angelfish! I put some angels in with my ray, just as a temperory thing until I got the tank together for the angels, and they never left the ray alone! Pick, pick, pick, all the time. Poor ray couldn't come out from under the sand, and then they just picked at his eyes!:irked:

yup, I agree. sting rays are really docile. I recently added some brichardis in with my motoro in its grow out and they're also going out now. oscar may take out its eye. don't think you should risk the ray to find out if it works.

I am going to be putting 2 rays with 2 wild oscars in my tank. I am hoping because my oscars are very passive and the tank is 426 gallons I should not have a problem...

good luck with your ray
