Stingray Ban in WA

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What is the average lake and river water temp all the way up there in wa? Im taking a stab at the guess that it is less than 68 deg f. If this guess is even remotely close then there is no chance for either a stingray or any piranah to survive after being ignorantly released into the wild.

Before these idiots take away our rights and liberties maybe they should crack open a book.

Not to sound anarchist, but our country was founded by ppl who were sick of having their rights stripped from them......just a thought.

Settled Piranhas have been found in the rivers and lakes around here meaning that there are now wild piranhas breeding there. There is one very well known ones in Oregon, and they have been found in our lakes "hayden" which was the call for Idaho for banning P's about 8 years ago.

You know what I don't understand is the government is banning all these fish, as waldo is saying due to the fact that fish/pet stores missinform their consumers about the fish and the appropreat size they get. Should this not make the government stand up and say hold on we need to address the problem so that we can cut down on the number of spieces being relieased without cutting back on the number of spieces being kept? Therefor have a goverment stat book on fish and sizes and proper aquarium size for what fish ect. Then make the fish stores apply for a liceance with tests that are about the fish they are selling. Maybe the employees need to take the test and are hired pending the results of the test. What ever it may be I think that there should be alternatives to banning all fish. Technically anything that can survive in fresh water could possibly addapt to any temprature of water given enough time.

Goldfish are not banned from any state I'm aware of. A goldfish that is seriously foul, and item sold in every fishstore. The Bowl. I think this accounts of the majority of releasings.

What! No way this is terrible. As far as water temperatures go, I live on the Columbia River and that fluctuates from almost freezing to around 75 degrees, and I believe that is the coldest water source correct me if im wrong please. There are other lakes that are much much warmer and are adaptable I can imagine, but during the winter most areas freeze. So I don't understand this? Someone did catch a Pacu a little while ago in the Columbia River, and they somehow tracked it back to the person who released it. This is where I am lost...we ban piranhas but not pacu? However it doesn't seem like the bans are very policed (couldnt find the word lol). people I know just got online without knowing a thing and ended up with fish on their doorstep that are...rare...

Actually, the rivers that come off from Mt. rainier are the coldest I believe. Ex. Nisqually, completely fed by glaciers.
