are stingray barbs safe to handle when they shed them??

i heard they can still have poison, unless you boil them. its up to you to decide whats "safe"

As above, net it out and boil it, let it dry and you are fine....they are amazing to handle as they have barbs all the way down.

Net it, let it dry out and you will be fine. The venom is not contained in the barb itself, but in the outer skin casing that covers the barb while on the ray. Still, handle with care because if it does puncture your skin and break off, it can still cause a dangerous infection.
