Stingray beginner needs help - Reticulated

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So i put extra super worms in my tank so they fall on the ground and put the cut up shrimp/squid at the same time.

My 2 big stingray's were eating the superworms and shrimp! Eureka! I did take the advise of cutting them up into smaller pieces, i guess that was the trigger.

I noticed they just kind of take their time, they are also trying to get to know their new tank mates. I think their biggest threat honestly is the bichirs which i think i'm going to have to give up. The peacock bass, dat and sharks don't care for them much.

we are not trying to get on to you, so dont take personal, but like its been said, you really need to get those rays in another tank. and as for feeding, they are rt on the money as well. feed some ghost shrimp also though. even though its not alot of nutrition, it helps get them settled in. Black worms, if you can get them, or earth worms (bait worms) will work..
If you do get ghost shrimp, get a small 10 gal tank and buy 40 or 50 at a time.. feed them pellets, alge wafers and what not to fatten them up also, that way it is some nutrition for your rays when they eat them...
but please, get at least for now, a 55 gal tank, cycle it and get the ray in it. (being they are tea-cups.. it will be on for now) but in time, get a larger tank for them to thrive in.. the guys giving you advice on here know what they are talking about. we all learned either the hard way or by research... but they do know best.
thanks and good luck

A++ information, couldn't agree more.

I have great luck feeding my Retics blackworms, earthworms, and frozen bloodworms. You need to make sure to feed late at night if your ray has any chance with all the big eaters you have. I would also increase your filtration since I think you said you have a filter as backup. Good luck!

I'd seperate the rays from the bichirs asap mind didn't bother it for like 3 months and, then 1 night it got tore to bits tried recovering but, was to late.
