Anyone ever had a stingray that attacked an aro? I have a roughly 30" silver that has some pretty nasty wounds on him from what appears to be the 16" Leo ray. I tried researching the topic and came up with nothing.

Thanks

Stingrays are a dominant predator and can overcome just about any fish you would keep in your tank. I have not heard of this happening to a 30" fish but since your ray is 16" I am not surprised.

Rays dont look as menacing as other toothy fish but they can take a chunk outta most fish, regardles of that fishes size. It may be because the ray is sexualy mature. Try getting a female in there to take his attention and you may get something outta it. Also aros are tough so it shouldnt be a problem.

It all depends on the rays temperament and how tall your tank is

If your tank is 24" and less in height and a large Ray then yes it can takeout a aro if the aro gets lazy

I feel even a 24" tall tank is to low to house a aro and adult rays 30" tall is a must

I know people will say their tanks are 24" tall and they have never had problems but the risks in a 24" tall tank are higher than a 30"

The only other aggressive fish in the tank are a 13" dat and an Asian aro, but they have all been together for 6 months with ok problem. And it also doesn't look like damage that could be caused by either of those guys.
