Hi guys,

Am wondering what effect will different tank mates have on the success rate of stingray breeding? Example if there are bichirs in the tank, will the rays still mate? Or if there are ITs, arowanas, gars, etc.

Thanks for your time! :)

I've had rays breed with a variety of tank mates above them. As long as the rays feel safe I think youre ok.

if your purpose is to breed them, don't add other species just only them. Good luck mate can i have one...;)

Why would you say that

I have had my rays breed with

A 28" Asian aro
Loads of large tigers / dats
Tinfoil barbs
Lince cat
Tigrinus cat
Geos
Birchers

The only fish I would stay clear of are flagtail and pleco

x2 I haven't bred my rays... but I know most fish if they feel secure and are otherwise haveing their needs met for breeding. Tank-mates can make or break the success simply from being to aggressive ect.. If the tank works and the fish your wanting to breed aren't stressed... eventually they will breed when the conditions are right.

He probably said its best to keep stingrays on there own because they are the only fish in the amazon and its best to replicate the wild environment lol

It is the water quality and massive feeding that get the ray breeding and have nothing to do with tank make as ray don't seem to scare of any fish and they mostly on bottom.
