NG Im guessing too long in box and no O2...

also im guessing too big of a shipment.....

anyone can handle grabbing a few lightbulbs from the store but if you ask them to cram 2000 lightbulbs into their little car im sure 90 percent will be broken.............

Please guess the reason of dead?
1:overfeed before ship.
2: Hook in stomach.
3: PH shock.
4:Too long distance
5:Amonia.

Before any comment, please remember i am a discus breeder, exporter and importer and i am 100% know how to adjust the water before.
Total order is 200pcs,50pcs already die in the bag.

so did u only receive 50 so far, and all were dead? or do u have 150 survivors?

ps when a ray is fresh dead on the bag it usually isnt curled stiff like the ones in the photo....when they are fresh dead for a short time they usually are soft and flat. how long was the total time in box for those rays.. from bagging to unpacking at your facility?

anybody have news or report about the black ray shipment that recently send out after brazil new release?

My guess is that if he has 150 survivors from a shipment like that 100 more will be dead within 10 days and possibly 25 plus will survive over a few weeks they are dead rays swimming.

sorry for the loss.

I just want to clarify that yes CB are better in all cases but this is not the norm...import small reasonable shipments of rays and acclimate correctly and have correct logistics etc and hold the rays for a few weeks b4 selling and all is good with WC..... it is what it is.....

I think it you could probably sell less than 100 @ this price to private hobbiest in the USA.

The new quotas are the same as the old quotas years back. its not like less will be coming in than in years past. hopefully the quotas are released for a few years and the demand will subside and all will be affordable etc but at that time there wont be a "craze" associated with them in USA.. Here its a small market

I also got to thinking, this one order was 200pieces. Say retail is $1500 does any one think 200 pieces would move in the US? 500? 1,000?

1500 is more like cost after add in DOA and shipping prices right now.

It does seem like the market is small here, at least at those prices.

Hopefully with the gas prices, shipping will go down, heck I filled up this morning for a $1.49/gallon! The DOA is scary. I remember you saying that these fish werent even caught yet so they are baisically taking these fish off the hooks and putting them in shipping boxes it seems. Cant be good on a fish at all! They at least need to sit for a week or so to purge their systems to prepare for 36-48hrs in a box!

On top of that, at least in the US, this is horrible timing. Christmas is this month and with the shape of the economy, selling a $1500 fish must be a *****.

John, you said that the quotas for years past are the same as the new one. How long did it take to feel the quotas then? How long do you think it will take for them to fill this time around? If fish are coming in after we get our tax returns itd be easier for alot of us to drop the coin.

Back in the day of dinosaur when quota was full they would just keep shipping illegal ones, that was main reason for ban if the quota was 5000 they figured that it was more like 10-15,000 leaving they would not stop and Brazil was not enforcing the law. Now they are enforcing the law, but question is when qouta is full with they stop?
