55 is fine for a bit ,90 is good for a year .

I have a 18" 4 " thick female motoro I got at 5" 15 months ago. So I would hold out till you were closer your 240. If I was in your situation I would put them in the 90 and make a 55 gallon sump that would make maintenance much easier
