It stopped eating last week. It does this weird motion where it lifts up it’s disc and goes back to its original position over and over again. I’m not sure why. The water quality is fine with no ammonia and little nitrates/ nitrites. However I did add in a peacock bass around 2 weeks ago.could it be a new tank mate factor or is it sick? The bass was in my another tank previously so it couldn’t have transmitted diseases, and I never added feeders. Does anyone know why its not eating?

If it's staying like that it's already death curling. From the look of the pictures it'll be dead by the end of the day. I've never really heard of a ray recovering from it.
Hello Cowturtle Cowturtle , could you please explain the basics of “death curling” to me? I understand the very basic jist of it which is whenever it happens a stingray is almost always going to die, I haven’t heard of one recovering from it, but can you tell me like what causes it, if there is a point that it can recover from it, etc?

From what I remember it's basically like rigor mortis already setting into the ray usually starting at the back and going around the disc. If the ray still flattens out normally and moves around it might recover. Definitely water change and salt is the best bet. If it's just flexing up and down it could just be stressed out.

I’m pretty sure it isn’t a death curl, it’s just flexing up and down. I’m not sure how to post a video on here ?. It goes back down after flexing up. It moves around the tank sometimes but not as active. If it is stressed out, what should I do?

Is your source water a ph of 6?
I think so. It has been ph of 6-7 for the last 4 months it was with me and it was fine. Still not eating. Could the addition of the bass be a factor?
