Hey guys, why does my motoro stingray not have such defined and nice spots? Is it cause of his diet?

my guy didnt have great spots when i first got him. Now his pattern is gorgeous! give it time buddy and power feed em!
How old and/or how big is the ray? Usually rays have very light and undefined patterns when they are young. My marble which I got around 3-4" is just now starting to have its patterns really come out at about 6".
As to lighting, I keep lights on all my rays, the pups tank I leave them off for the most part as they do tend to freak out when the lights are on. The rest of my rays couldn't care less about the lights.
