Stingray Pond questions and thoughts.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I always wanted to do a slanted pond so the ray can beach themselves during feeding time lol.

Won't Lie the slant did come to mind. OK so no RO. Reason I mentioned is cause I have a 150 gallon Reef Tank and I have a Decent RO unit hooked to it. So it isn't like it would be out of my way to do.

Opinion on heavily planted tank connected to the rays? Anyone? I saw the 2 or 3 threads with hydroponics but not quite what I had in mind. Would have Clams, Swords, Moss, many other things as well.

Agreed on ro for marine but nt needed and wasteful on this size.

Look up the thread on pothos, these grow above water so do not rely on co2 from the tank and their roots love being in water and feeding off the nitrate. I grow them in mine and it does very well. I think any sort of refugium is a good idea. Try to grow snails in there too as the rays love to eat them.

So No RO then.

The Refugium will be for plants snails and maybe guppies or some other sort of live food for the Rays as an occasional snack.

I will put up some detailed drawings later of what I am thinking for my setup.
