Stingray pond upgrade

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This is a great idea. I suspect the pond is in the basement due to the weight but have a few questions: -what's the diameter of the pool and depth of the water -if the pool is indoors, do you have a problem with humidity or do you use dehumidifiers -also, is the pond sitting on a platform or directly on the floor I have lots of pond liner left over from the ponds I built in the yard and lots of extra space in the unfinished basement, so this would certainly be a great way of reducing the number of tanks that I'm using and increasing the area that the fish have.

I wonder if a dehumidifier could vent back to the pond? It would be cold water but as only pure water evaporates I wonder if it would be like RO.....certainly don't try without the answer.

You do need to be careful with evaporation as only the pure water Evaps and therefore the resulting water left gets harder and harder so you still need to water change before the top up.

The pond is 10 ft in diameter and 30 inches deep I don't use Dehumidifiers the room is sealed at the ceiling and only the block is exposed I haven't had any problems with humidity but it hasn't been sealed off for long I assume over time that it would be a issue but I plan to vent the room and put an inline fan on a timer for certain times of the day to solve the problem just havent had time the pond sits on some pink insulation and plastic to keep it from getting wet oh and yes its in the basement and I like the dehumidifier too idea sounds badass definitely worth looking into anyone ever try this?

Oh also its on a drip system I just pump some of the water out once a week and that's how I do the water changes iwould just pump it out and fill her back up but I don't think the Rays like it seem to act funny they a much more comfortable with the drip thanks for the heads up tho
