Im so happy :D
Today I sat my dad down lol and talked to him about me building a pond in our crawlspace (storage area). I told him my reasonings:
I really wanted to breed my rays and needed more space
My tank was going to be to small for my rays full grown
I love them :P
and a bunch of other stuff
And he FINALY after years of telling him how much I loved my fish :) he finaly realized that this isnt just some ordinary hobby its like idn more than that (if you understand) and that its also something I want to do for the rest fo my life (I want to be a marine biologist, always have. Btw im only 16 lol :) ).
Lol but you get the point im probably (most likely) going to be building a ray pond!!!!! Lol you dont realize how happy I am, my family is all into sports (and so am i dont get me wrong i play alot) and they just dont understand. They never have, theyve always said "its just fish, they sitt there and breathe. Alot of fun they are". Idn it just feels like a big deal because I think theyre actually starting to understand :D

So does any one have any ideas of how I should build this pond? Would a standard 40 gallon sump work or do I need a new filter? If so what? Im thinking im going to stick with motoros (black rays (pritty much all brazilian rays)). What can I do for lighting? I would like to spend under $750 bec it takes me alot of time to make that kind of money. I was thinking of something like the pond miles build but a lil bitt taller and bigger. How would I sell up a filter for this (ive never had a pond only tanks) is it much differant?

i would go for 8'x4'x2'.... a friend of mine built one for around 200$ i think... he is actually selling it on here for 100$ (ecajoe) and you can get a good rubbermaid container i like the large taller ones make a half ass 2x4 frame to reinforce it and use that for you sump.... liners and wood are cheap.... indoor pond section shows how he built his

No yours is a little black plastic tub and a pointless idea tbh.

Build a 8*4*2 best bang for your buck and your rays will like it better

darcy you can get pond liners online for cheap and lumber can always be found locally for cheap as well.... some 2x4s and and screws bulk head or 2 and your all set
