don't worry what u got now is big enough. i wish i had that much space! start with just a couple rays then later on maybe add some more.

different people will have different opinions on the required space. but a good rule of thumb is not to go smaller then the disc diameter. so 3 feet is enough for a hystrix especially! worry more about filtration don't get worked up on space. water is more important then space to a ray. rays require super good water quality. some rays live in tiny tanks their whole life's and live to a good age. it all depends on the water an how well u treat and feed the ray.

aparently im one of them.... you need to take into account the tail... and turning radius.... for the ray... the same size disc diameter is WAY to small

i can go 3.5ft maybe a bit bigger

you will last a few years in that size pond... but you will need to upgrade...

lol their tails bend 90 degrees. also if hes getting a hystrix they only grow up to 14'' diameter

so if he has a tank that's 3 feet wide which is 36''!! thats more then enough even with their super flexible tails!!

hi

iam all ways intrested in stingrays, and now iam thinking of building a pond in my shed, my qestions is that how many motoro can i have in a 7ft x 3.5ft x 3ft pond. i was thinking could i get 3 one male and two females and want to breed you see to get some money and how long to it take to get mature becuase i have been reading that some take a year to 18 months and it what you feed them and what is the best food and what temperture does the tank need to be and does anybody know how munch a true hystrix and motoro a cost in the uk.

thanks

hes thinking about hystrix aswell
Motoros could also live in a tank thats 36'' wide they only grow to a maximum of 24'' that leaves a foot of space for its tail which should be enough. i would like to get 4x4X1 tank one day, however i would get 4X3x1 also.
