Stingray Pond

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You will need more then just some fx5 to filter that thing if you plan on housing rays in there....It's a nice pond...

raymann88 .....
many people have used these for rays no worries at all.they are easy to patch your a tradesman, these things could outlast a glass aquarium.they are made out of the same material as a zodiak inflaitable boat.those boats last forever.they are fixable and very easily ,just dont leave them in constant uv rays.
but we dont need to worry about that up here right now lol!

Why not make a sump or wet dry for it?
Can make one cheap out of a rubbermaid container.
FX5 would be fine for supplemental filtration, but on such a large pond and with rays - I would much rather over filter for cheap with a sump or wet/dry than pay $$$ for just two canister filters.

Agreed. Whilst two fx5s may be just about enough it all depends on stocking levels. You could get much more bio area for a lot less money. You are laying for a lot of packaging in a cannnsiter to allow it to run under pressue, you do not need that of you are gravity feeding back to the pond. A pond filter just abov the pond would allow ten times the filter area of an fx5 and a pond pump can run a lot more turnover.

looks a good size..would worry me though... rays chew on everything..from pipeing to acrylic struts...would have to be very tough!

This is only a temporary pond for now while I move. I have 6 FX5 filters running now I would hook up to the pond. Should be tons of filtration. I do agree if it was permanent to insulate it and run a sump off off it.
