Where are you in Canada?

It's a bit different here in Toronto / Canada

My lfs sell the following

$99 Motoro (not pup size)
$180 Marble Motoro (male, uber pretty)
$1500 P14

;)

p14 seam to be the only ray thats holding its price right now

p14 = £1500-2000
pearl = £350-500 to much supply not not enough demand
motoro = £90-125
marbles £150-300 i have had mine up so sale for ages and its not moving
Leo = £500-750
BD = £1800-2500
henlei = not sure but i did buy a male for £500 last year
retic = £40-80
flowers ?
tigers ?

Australia prices:
Motoro pairs $1000AUD ($880 us 600 pounds)
leos $10 000 - $50 000 aud a pair
id love to be where you guys are paying a fraction of what we have to!!!

pretty much its illegal for the average joe to import. from what i understand its the fear of an irresponsibly person not disposing of an animal the right way (i.e. the fish its to big for my tank so ill just throw it in the steam down the road.) so its pretty limited for supply. motoros you can get hold of easily enough but for anything more exotic you need to know someone breeding on a personal basis.
Its a shame for those who truly have a passion for the hobby.

A very interesting infos T1KARMANN. I'm shocked by fact that Pearls "lost" so much in value - they were extremely expensive when they came to Europe for the first time. Do you consider all sizes of fish? From pups up to mature ones?

prices quoted was for pups

the problem with pearls is they are near the same as motoro but used to have a massive price

now with many people breeding pearls the price has dropped a lot as the litter size is much the same as motoro

along with the fact that most people spending big money on rays now would rather spend that cash on black rays pearl prices had no choice but to fall

i have seen people say they would pay more if the seller had a good rep well a rep means nothing to me if the price is double market price

good rep bad rep if you are spending £1k on a ray you should know if its in good health or not

this is just my opinion

If you are new to Rays then sometimes you need the advice of a professional to tell you what is a healthy ray or not, the only way you can trust a seller to do this is if they have a good rep.

I earn a healthy living for the specialised advice that I give, my business grows by personal recommendation therefore my reputation earns me my money. If you were not reputable you could sell a dieing ray to a newbie and simply take their money.

I think T1 would only buy from certain sources, maybe just on price but I am sure if every cheap Ray you bought died or made the rest of your collection ill then you would not buy from them again, therefore you would make an assumption about their rep.

You obviously have the knowledge to spot a sick Ray and would not buy it in the first place but for those o us that could not spot them we need to rely on a safe source.

I do not mean this as a rant, just the other side of the opinion.
