My fellow ray-keepers, I would like to share with you my solution for a nursery.

I added a bulkhead to the main system (adult tank) to draw water into a Fluval 205. Once filtered through this 205 it is pumped up to the nursery above the main system. Additionally I placed one last bulkhead at the opposite end of the nursery through the floor. Using some scrap PVC I created an overflow drain. This overflow style drain maintains the water depth at three inches. The 205 creates a very gentle eddy longways through the nursery without whipping the pups around. We it is not feeding time the original cover for the bin is placed on top and secured. Here are the pictures. Enjoy.

i love it.... nice and simple ;)

Nice!!!

Unique.

Similar set-ups are used in commercial aquaculture systems for fry grow-outs.
If you venture to build one yourself make sure that:

1) If the power fails there is no siphon formed that would endanger the pups.
2) The overflow piece allows for a safe minimum water level to remain.

I arbitrarily chose 3 inches. It allows for a very nice view of the pups and ease of target feeding them with a syringe. Also great for photos. - FM

AGREED!!!! very nice setup, pups are looking good too. Didn't you have 4 pups? I only see 3.
