I bought my Motoro as a juvenile, and a skinny one at that. I started off feeding bloodworms, krill, and shrimp. It didn't fill out as fast as expected, and I included chopped salmon in the diet. Since then it has filled out and I would like to know what a good staple diet would be. I know that salmon is very fatty, and I'd like to reduce the amount of salmon and incorporate a less fatty diet. It does not eat pellets at this time. Should I increase the amount of shrimp? Suggestions please.

I use mainly raw shrimp and earthworms

That is one thing I didn't add to the list, I have been feeding earthworms as well.

my diets consist of pellets (daily staple) (hikari massivore carnivor and or sinking cichlid) shrimps, clams cockles squid silversides smelts and im pretty damn sure i could get a ray to eat a hamburger.... vary the diet as much as possible...i will usually avoid feeding any form of salt water fish to my rays but will give clam strips cockle etc as a treat when i have them...

I think I'm going to try soaking some sinking pellets in garlic.

When I first got my rays they were only eating blackworms and earthworms. The first step I took was to soak cut shrimp and earthworms together in the same dish. Sometimes I would cut the worms up so the shrimp cut good and wormy. The first time or two the rays only gummed the shrimp pieces but eventually they took the shrimp slowly. After a few more feedings I fed shrimp only first still soaked in worm juice. The rays pounced on it agressively. I then did this same process with shrimp/sinking pellets and it worked well. Eventually no more soaking the pellets in shrimp juice. Every ray I've owned would eat various types of pellets with a little patience.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try that tonight!
