In my own little world
Has anyone kept young Rays with an Adonis Pleco (currently 3")? What about plecos in general?

Also are cory cats compatible (larger Greens) with young rays.

The Rays are going into my 125G intermediate tank until they get to around 10" disk diameter, then into a 240. Reason for not putting them straight into the the larger tank now is the current inhabitants.

Appreciate any info and opinions.

plecos can be problematic, some of them pick up the bad habit of eating the slime coat off of the rays. I dont know much about corys but if they are in the 4-8" range your rays will eventually eat them

There are a lot of things that people keep stingrays with; according to some very good sources (Dr. Ross, for example), rays are safest in the company of other rays. It is always up to the individual fish and situation in question, and sometimes experimenting works and sometimes you wind up with a dead ray.

That said, there are a few relatively safe bets when it comes to tank mates. Arowanas are probably the most popular and time-tested. In general, catfish and plecos can be troublesome (and sometimes deadly) tankmates for your little pancake friends.

Just be careful, and whatever you add watch it very closely. Do that, and all should be well. :)

I've kept plecos with rays for years. I guess it just depends on the pleco. Currently I keep a rhino, red-tailed cactus, emperor, vampire, and common pleco in tanks where there are also rays. Good luck.

Thank you all very much for the feedback!

They arrived this morning at 10:00 am sharp and are BEAUTIFUL . Currently doing a drip acclimation and figure another 20 minutes before intoduction.

I reckon that I will not put any large Plecs in with these little fellows and will keep a very close eye on the Adonis.

I would assume you got atlantic stingrays???? Or your location is incorrect. Anyways, it is a hit or miss with plecos. I have had plecos with my rays. But I just had a friend who had his ray get sucked on by a pleco. Needless to say the plecos are no londer in my ray tank. I am also going to adopt his ray. He likes his expensive pleco more than a beautiful ray.

from what i know people have kept rays with albino plecos. and as for tank mates. it really varies depending on your taste. but clown loaches, maybe a tigrinus should be ok.

id stay away from pretty much ANY other bottom dweller, they can really stress out the rays, stay away from plecos especially because they are prone to suck the mucus off of the rays which protects them from sickness and disease.

id stick to fish that stay in the middle or top of the tank, like aro's
